Useless but Not Trash

The best invention of all time (30 second read)

My favourite invention for inbox management has been a folder called ‘Useless But Not Trash’. Let me explain.

It’s for everything you get you don’t want to delete and you might look at later, but you’re not sure you really need it. It’s to plug that gap between should I delete this email or should I file this away. So instead of making a mammoth list of folders in your inbox for everything imaginable - use this to your advantage.

I have put concert tickets, announcements at work that I probably won’t re-read, my Amazon delivery confirmations, my tax stuff that I don’t really care about and everything else that doesn’t fit into neatly defined category.

Rule of thumb: your inbox should remain empty. Move the random stuff you don’t want to delete to this folder.
