3 Reasons Why The AI Pin is Exactly What You Need

#2 We Don't Work Very Hard

AI Pin

I’m not a gadget guy. I’m usually a late adopter when it comes to new tech because I want to see if it survives…and I’m lazy.

But not with this. The AI Pin has me waiting like tech geeks lining up for the new iPhone. A lot of people online aren’t on the same page — famous YouTubers like Marques Brownlee, The Friday Checkout and Callum Upton. One of them calling it ‘The most useless AI device ever’.

Pah!

Well here’s my opinion: it’ll be great for us. But first, if you don’t know what I’m talking about — watch this video so you can catch up.

#1. The least used app on our phones is the ‘Phone’ app. That annoys me a little.

There’s never been a better time to be alive. Ever. We don’t have to go hunting for food, we don’t have to cash cheques at the bank to get paid, and we can stream anything we like for entertainment. But we’re busier than ever. We have less time to spend with our families, less time to spend with friends.

Every year, I do the Push-Up Challenge which supports a charity helping people with mental health issues. Each pushup represents a life lost to suicide in Australia. The number goes up every year. I don’t want it to keep going up! It’s a horrible feeling knowing more and more people are choosing to leave the world.

And the cause is simple — it’s our phones.

We’ve can’t focus! And so we’re not focused on what’s important.

Relationships. Communities. Other people.

A Facebook community doesn’t count. A Slack community isn’t the same as meeting up with real people in the real world. And it’s a basic human need. We NEED to experience real connection.

We argue that we’re connected to everyone all the time — but it’s not the same.

We won’t call. We barely text.

The AI Pin will change that.

Because it doesn’t have a screen. Calling will feel more natural when you don’t have to touch a flat bar of soap. And also you only have two options — call or text.

We HAVE to stay connected to real people. Out there.

#2. We don’t work very hard.

I’ve noticed it in myself — I give up more easily than people who grew up when ‘times were tough’.

Last Christmas I got a Record Player from my fiancé. It was an old one with parts inside that I had to assemble. I’m sure it wasn’t complicated, but after 10 minutes I gave up and decided to leave it in the box. Uncle Mario didn’t let me — “don’t give up on it, Harry”, he said. He jumped in and helped me put it together.

It took us a while, but it got done.

And it felt great.

Instant gratification rules out everything that takes real effort. It keeps us from the joy of achieving something bigger.

We HAVE to stop giving up so easily.

3. We are meant to be innovators. Not couch potatoes.

If you think about it — our addiction to our phones hampers our sleep, our fitness and our focus. So why haven’t we stopped?

The constant ‘feel good’ dopamine makes it hard. It’s not easy to leave your phone at home and go for a walk. It’s like leaving a limb at home. “But what if I die??”

I want to be an innovator. I deleted socials from my phone in Feb and it wasn’t easy. But my income, fitness, and relationships have all grown. It’s not a coincidence. Yes, it took work. It took me 3 weeks to switch off from the feeling that ‘I HAVE to post this’. But if I did it, so can you. If you want.

You know what else happened? I started taking risks. I started DOING shit. I started and failed in 3 separate businesses this year (read about them here) because I had spare time to think. I made time. And I started writing a book because I could finally focus.

The joy you get from finishing something you worked hard on, is so much better than checking Instagram. Don’t you agree?

These are the reasons why the AI Pin will be great. It’ll give us a choice.

For creators — I can’t imagine a better piece of tech. And I hope this encourages more people to start creating.

Questions for you to ask yourself:

“When was the last time I chose to leave the house without my phone or smart watch? Did I die?”

If you can’t remember the last time, try it. It’s freeing.
